As I was surfing around today looking for a convenient list of Washington State environmental issues Paul Bunyan could solve in his problem-solving proposal business letter to Christine Gregoire – don’t ask – my eye caught something from Mike Town who I see teaches near my neighborhood in Redmond.

Some of you may already be aware of the “Cool School Challenge”, nevertheless, this post is for Middle School teaching teams looking for a great elective.

Mike created Cool School Challenge“, an environmental education model used at Redmond High School; in the process he and his students saved the high school $100,000 over a three-year period. Talk about making a difference!

Here is a video from Mountlake Terrace High School showing how MTH students stepped into leadership roles by using Mike’s model to lower their school’s carbon footprint and in the process saved their band program from budget cuts.
